Endobronchial Surgery

Endobronchial Surgery, which concern itself largely with diseases or problems in the bronchus, is not a medical speciality in its own right. On the one hand, some Thoracic Surgeons extend their area or interest out of the lungs and up the bronchus, whereas on the other hand the bronchus is readily accessible to the Respiratory Physicians of a more surgical inclination. Typical procedures include the removal of tumours or strictures from the bronchus, and a bronchoscope is a readily available piece of surgical instrumentation in most hospitals. Many procedures can be carried out using diathermy or laser equipment, where the use of lasers provides for a more precise and controlled procedure. Where lasers are used, the LIMAX 60W Diode-pumped Nd:YAG Laser operating at 1.318um provides an ideal combination of resection, coagulation and sealing in bronchial tissue, and would be an ideal investment for any hospital wanting to set up a state-of-the-art Airways Management Service.
